You know all about the benefits of social media marketing for businesses.

It’s good for SEO. It builds brand loyalty. And it’s an easy way to reach out to more people.

But there’s quite a leap from including social media in your marketing mix and doing it right. Some find the process easy, while others need a bit of help. If you fall into the latter category, don’t worry.

Here are five of the best social media campaigns to get you inspired.

1. Shot on iPhone

How successful was this campaign? According to Business Insider, when Apple first launched this campaign in 2015, it was seen more than six billion different times. And the idea behind it was so simple too.

Take a photo using the iPhone 6, tag it with the hashtag #shotoniphone, and the best photos will be put up on billboards around the world. You can try the same for your brand.

Think of a specific hashtag related to your brand and ask your audience to send in pictures. Throw in a good prize and you’ll have a lot of user-generated content for future use.

2. The Ice Bucket Challenge

You can’t have a list of the best social media campaigns without this one. When it became viral in the summer of 2014, it got 17 million people posting videos on Facebook. And even despite criticism, it was able to raise more than $100 million in a month.

What’s interesting is it wasn’t even an official ALS campaign. It really gained traction when Pete Frates shared the challenge with his large following. Today, the campaign is now a yearly fundraising event for the ALS Association.

3. Baskets

We talked about social buzz and content before, where we explained why posting great content on social media isn’t enough. You must always aim to create content with a buzz, which is something the TV show Baskets was able to do with a solid LinkedIn strategy.

Yes, LinkedIn. If you’re not familiar with the FX show, it stars Zach Galifianakis. He plays Chip Baskets, whose dream is to become a professional clown. You can check the character’s fully-optimized LinkedIn profile, which comes complete with experience, recommendations, and articles.

4. #treehousetuesdays

#treehousetuesdays is a great example that shows why Airbnb is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to marketing campaigns. With the hashtag, Airbnb offers users a chance to spend the night in a picture-perfect tree house.

5. Tweet Shop

Using social media posts as currency in exchange for actual products? Genius. That’s exactly what Marc Jacobs did during NYFW in 2014.
